The Holistic Sanctuary, Complementary Health in Penymynydd, Nr Llanelli, Carmarthenshire
Welcome to The Holistic Sanctuary, my complementary healthcare practice.
I provide a holistic approach to your health and well-being, professionally delivered within a caring and relaxing environment. My practice is based in the village of Pen-y-mynydd on Pembrey Mountain on the outskirts of Llanelli, Carmarthenshire and is within a short driving distance of Five Roads, Kidwelly, Pembrey, Carmarthen and Ferryside. I am also accessible from Swansea and Gorseinon via the Loughor Bridge.
You are welcome to contact me without obligation for an informal chat about any of the therapies I offer. My contact details are on the sidebar of this page. Check out the seasonal/monthly offers too; they are often taster sessions in reflexology or Indian Head Massage providing you the opportunity to 'dip your toe' in the world of complementary health before making a full commitment.
What is the Holistic approach to healthcare; what does it mean?
The term describes an integral, inclusive approach, which regards each being, system, or object as more than the sum of its parts. Holism is often associated with medicine, nutrition, and lifestyle. Holistic practices deal with the whole person; your entire wellbeing is taken into account – physical, emotional, spiritual, mental, social, diet and lifestyle, stresses, work/life balance and even environmental factors, etc.
The term ‘holistic’ is taken from the Greek word HOLOS meaning whole. Therefore the holistic approach involves seeing the body as an integrated organism of many parts each of which must operate accurately if the others are to do their job.
Using complementary therapies can provide time to relax and cope with everyday situations and problems in a more natural and gentle way.
Time taken out for relaxation from your busy life or schedule is vital to everyone, whether this is gardening, playing sport, reading, walking or using complementary therapies. Stress can be experienced by anyone and impacts upon every area of life reducing our enjoyment and sense of well-being. Reduction in stress has been documented and attributed to reduce illness, pain and anxiety.
There are many research papers available on the detrimental effects of stress on health and well-being; one is 'Reflexology to manage stress in the workplace': A preliminary study by Rhian C. Atkins & Philip Harris, Complementary Therapies in Clinical Practice (Volume 14; No.4, Page(s) 280-287) available at www.sciencedirect.com
Please note that as a professional complementary health practitioner I would always advise that you seek medical advice for your symptoms. I am not qualified to diagnose medical conditions and if you have any concerns about your health you should always consult your GP or other health professional. Complementary health practitioners do not claim to treat or cure a person or condition.
